The Single Largest Nutrient Deficiency in Society

Water is the single most important nutrient in the body – you can go weeks without food but only days without water!  We are made up of 55-60% water in the body so over half our body weight is water…………

Water has many roles within the body – it improves oxygen delivery to cells, transports nutrients, cushions bones and joints, regulates body temperature, flushes toxins and removes waste, lubricates maintains and improves cell to cell communications and empowers the body’s natural healing process to name but a few.

For proper absorption water depends upon electrolytes – minerals dissolved in the water.

**TOP TIP** – add a pinch of sea salt to your water bottle, you won’t notice the taste and you will hydrate quicker!

If your water level drops by 2% it will cause fatigue, up to 10% will cause digestive issues, cardio vascular problems, reduced immune function and musculoskeletal problems……… greater than 10% can lead to death!  In particular on hot days ensure you stay hydrated………. It’s vital for your kids at school too so they can function to their best.

What are the solutions (no pun intended) ……. Ideally filter your own water, calculate your daily requirement:-

How much water should I drink?

This may seem a lot but you will notice the benefits very quickly.   Also take note of diuretic drinks – tea, coffee, fizzy pop, fruit juices and alcohol as they reduce the bodies ability to absorb water as it passes through, for every one of these drinks you need to drink the same amount of water…….. on top of your daily need.

**TOP TIP** – add your calculated water to a bottle or glass jug each day so you can track how you are doing!
