We start with a 15-20 minute telephone chat so we can start to build a level of trust and establish a partnership for success.

Yes, you need to do the following:

  1. Complete an initial interview form with general questions.
  2. Complete an online Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (non internet based version also available). It takes approximately 30 minutes and adds to the background data.
  3. Complete a 5 day food diary.
  4. Sign a disclaimer so that you know what I am certified to help you with.

In a 90 minute initial consultation, we will discuss your goals, get into some nutrition education where I explain basic nutrition principles, perform a clinical assessment, and provide dietary recommendations.

This is an online questionnaire that you will complete. I will send you a link to access the questionnaire. It is a lot of questions (approximately 300), but they are easy to answer. You answer with a number 0-3, with 0 meaning that symptom never happens and 3 meaning that symptom happens almost daily. Also, the NAQ takes about 30 minutes to complete and you cannot save it and come back to it, so make sure you have enough time set aside to complete it.

This is a unique tool for assessing and addressing nutritional imbalances in the body. When combined with a foundational approach to a whole food, nutrient dense diet it creates the most powerful and bio-individual nutritional programme available in the world.

The clinical assessment takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes to complete. It involves a series of medically recognised “palpations” (gently touching) to assess the sensitivities of organs and systems e.g. digestion, fatty acids, minerals, adrenals, hydration, pituitary/hypothalamus, and more. This is where we tap into your body’s innate ability to tell us what is going right and what is going wrong!

It is based on:

  1. taking your blood pressure and pulse
  2. Palpating medically recognised reflex points of the body
  3. Muscle testing – This is an advanced clinical skill that compliments and integrates with the palpation system perfectly. It expands our clinical assessment skills making me more accurate in assessing imbalances and more effective in creating nutritional programmes. This takes the assessment on to the next level.

It allows me to collect facts like a forensic scientist to try and solve the crime of what is depleting your health and vitality.

Just wear your normal clothing or something comfortable. The clinical assessment is carried out wearing your clothes.

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) is a paraprofessional certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc. trained to evaluate a client’s nutritional needs, support normal function, and identify nutritional deficiencies. An NTP makes recommendations of dietary changes, lifestyle considerations and nutritional supplementation based on client information, assessments, muscle testing and lingual-neuro testing.

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner is not trained to provide medical diagnosis or treatment of any medical or pathological condition, illness, injury or disease. No recommendation or comment made by a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner should be construed as being medical advice or diagnosis.

No!

As a nutritional therapy practitioner (NTP), certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, I am able to look at your diet and lifestyle and determine best how to address your individual needs. I will never recommend the same thing to two different people because their needs and goals are different.

The initial consultation, to discuss challenges, set goals and review the foundations of nutrition for you and to carry out a Clinical Assessment costs £125 and takes a min 1 ½ hrs face to face.
Subsequent follow up calls are charged at £75 per hour or £38 per ½ hr.
My objective is to do myself out of a job as soon as possible – this doesn’t mean I don’t care, as I will always be available but that my aim is for you to reach optimal health as soon as possible. You are always welcome for an annual MOT…….. and many clients choose this.

Yes

I am able, and happy, to work remotely via Skype etc. You will get the full benefits like my other clients except for the Clinical Assessment. This programme costs £150 for 2 hours – the initial consultation will be approx 60 mins and then 2 follow up calls of 30 mins to assess progress.

Muscle testing is a biofeedback process which accesses the body’s innate intelligence through the physical exam. It uses changes in muscle tone to indicate physiological, anatomical, and emotional stress related to the bodies systems.

It’s a positive interaction between practitioner and client , it is a very dynamic process using alignment, motion and touch which are based on a culmination of different healing backgrounds.

It builds on the Nutritional Therapy Association’s paradigm that the foundational homeostatic systems are the body’s primary factors in regulating health. The Art of Muscle Testing is to support the clinician in balancing those foundational systems to restore the function of the body. The system prioritises which of the foundational systems (digestion, blood sugar regulation, mineral balance, hydration, fatty acids, diet, etc.) are out of balance and what is required to return order and optimal health.

The advanced skills;

1. Learn how to effectively prioritise by foundation, physiological systems, and individual organs.
2. Identify the interactions between the organs in digestion, blood sugar regulation, or the endocrine system.
3. Improve our skill at creating the right nutritional protocol to return true balance to our system.

a. Determine the appropriate support and supplementation that maybe needed.
b. Accurately assess dosage for any supplemental support required.

4. Perform advanced safe palpations for assessment, including the Chapman Reflexes and organs.
5. Proficiently assess digestion and blood sugar regulation and to prioritise the organs to achieve balance.
6. Determine the appropriate protocol when working with “leaky gut,” food sensitivities, detoxification, and immune issues.
7. Enhance the function of stressed organs with the use of essential oils.

This amazing system was created by John Tjenos, John is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Lead Nutritional Therapy Instructor. His extensive bodywork and nutrition background led him to create this highly effective system for teaching practitioners how to develop the art of muscle testing. His teachers and his training include the Functional Evaluation, Autonomic Response Testing, Visceral Manipulation, Functional Neurology and, at the centre of it all, Aston Patterning.
